Open any 3D file. Review it as a team. Free.
A browser-based platform for designers, engineers, and product teams to upload, view, comment on, version, and approve 3D models — without anyone needing CAD software.
Free forever. No credit card. No install.
View STEP, STL, OBJ, GLB, IGES, and more online.
Works with the files you already have
18 file formats. Any modern browser. 100% free.
You've felt this.
3D file workflows fall apart in a few specific places. We built around all of them.
Someone emailed you a STEP file. You can't open it without a CAD seat.
The model is in Dropbox. The feedback is in Slack. The decision is in someone's head.
Your folder has housing_v3_FINAL.stp. And _v4. And _v5_USE_THIS.
The factory has questions. You're not sure who approved what, or when.
Your reviewer is on their phone. The file isn't.
The bracket is too thin. Which bracket?
From STEP to approved, in four steps.
From "I just got a STEP file" to "the team has signed off" in less time than it takes to make coffee.
- STEP 01Drop file hereor click to browseSTEPhousing_v3.stp
Upload
Drag and drop a STEP, STL, OBJ, GLB — or any of 18+ supported formats. Your file goes straight to private storage, scoped to your workspace.
- STEP 02
Open it in your browser
Rotate, pan, zoom. Switch to orthographic. Hide parts. Isolate one. Color another. Pull the explode slider. No CAD seat required, on any device.

Review with your team
Click a part to comment on it. @mention a teammate and they get an email with a link straight back to the comment. Mark Needs Review, Approved, or anywhere in between.

Track every change
Every upload, comment, color change, status change, and version is logged with who and when. You'll never have to ask 'who approved this?' again.
Built for the way teams actually review 3D files.
Six things that make the difference between "I looked at it" and "the team has signed off."
Open the file the factory sent you.
STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, GLB, GLTF, FBX, 3MF, DAE, PLY, 3DS, BREP, OFF, WRL, 3DM, IFC, and more — all in the browser. No installs, no plugins, no exporting to a different format first.
Comment on the part, not the screenshot.
Click any part directly on the 3D model and leave a thread. @mention a teammate and they get an email with a deep link back to the exact comment.
Inspect any subassembly. Color any part.
Hide what you don't need. Isolate what you do. Mark parts with status colors and send the colored model back to the factory. Pull the explode slider and watch the assembly come apart.

Upload a new version any time. Every revision is preserved and viewable in the timeline — click a version to load it in the viewer. No more "_FINAL_actually-final-2_USE-THIS."

- FinalFinal
From Draft to Final.
Built-in review states — Draft, Needs Review, Factory Reviewing, Changes Requested, Approved, Final, Archived. Everyone sees the same status, on the same file, in the same place.
Receipts for everything.
Every upload, edit, rename, comment, color change, version, and status change is logged with the user and the timestamp. Search the workspace activity feed when you need to know what happened.
However you work with 3D files.
3Dview.art fits four kinds of people, and gets out of the way of all of them.
Show your work in a link.
Stop screen-sharing. Stop exporting screenshots. Get specific feedback pinned to the exact part you were worried about.
Inspect every part. Approve every revision.
Hide every distraction. Audit every change. The model behaves the way you'd expect a real CAD viewer to behave — and the version history doesn't lie.
One source of truth, with receipts.
One place per project. Status colors that mean the same thing to everyone. A complete, time-stamped record of who did what and when.
Receive a link. Open the model. Done.
View on any device. Leave feedback the engineers will actually find. Never download a thing.
Review on your phone.
The full viewer, parts list, comments, and version history — on any phone or tablet. Drag the panel up to read the comments. Drag it down to see the model. Built mobile-first, not bolted on.
Bracket too thin. @engineering
We made it for ourselves first.
We make physical products. We got tired of emailing STEP files around, of factory questions about parts we couldn't pin down, of folders full of _FINAL_v3 files.
So we built the tool we wished existed — a single place where any teammate could open the model, leave a comment on the right part, see the version history, and know what was approved.
Then we made it free for anyone with the same problem.
— The team behind 3Dview.art
Your files. Your workspace. Private by default.
Calm and factual, because that's what hardware engineers want to read before they upload an unannounced product.
Private by default
Files are scoped to your workspace and require authentication to view.
Clerk-powered sign-in
Sign in with email or single sign-on. No separate password to remember.
Role-based permissions
Three role levels — admin, editor, viewer — to fit each teammate's job.
Cloud object storage
Stored in cloud object storage with unguessable URLs.
Why is it free?
3Dview.art started as an internal tool for a hardware team that got tired of emailing STEP files. It works for us, it costs almost nothing to run, and a lot of small teams have the same problem with no good solution. So we made it free.
Free up to 1 GB of storage, 5 members, and 5 projects per workspace — generous enough for almost every small hardware team.
Need more? Email us. We'll bump the cap by hand for now, and you'll be first to hear when we add a paid plan for larger workspaces.
Frequently asked questions.
- Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial expiry, and no credit card. Sign up, use it, invite your team. That's the whole offer.
- STEP (.step, .stp), IGES (.iges, .igs), STL, OBJ, GLB, GLTF, FBX, 3MF, DAE, PLY, 3DS, BREP, OFF, WRL, 3DM, and IFC. If your CAD software exports to any of those, you're set.
- No. 3Dview.art runs entirely in your browser. Anyone you share a workspace with can sign in and start reviewing models in seconds.
- Yes. Files are scoped to your workspace, served through an authenticated proxy that issues a fresh 60-second download URL each time, and isolated from other tenants by Postgres Row-Level Security. Roles control who can upload, edit, or delete. See the security overview for the full picture.
- Yes. Workspaces support multiple members with three role levels - admin, editor, and viewer. Invite designers, engineers, project managers, and factory liaisons, each at the level of access that fits their job.
- Yes. The full viewer, parts list, comments, version history, and activity feed work on any phone or tablet. You can review a model in a meeting, a car, or on a factory floor.
- The free tier supports uploads up to 500 MB. Large STEP and IGES assemblies are converted server-side into optimized GLB previews, so first processing can take a little while, but repeat views are fast.
- Some formats, like STL, are a single mesh by design and don't have separable parts. STEP, IGES, GLB, and other assembly-aware formats expose their part hierarchy. The Parts panel always shows you what was detected and tells you why if extraction fell short.
Stop emailing STEP files.
Sign up, upload a model, invite your team. It takes about a minute and it costs nothing.
Free forever. No credit card. No install.
